Welcoming the New iPhone, XL Claims Ready to Apply eSIM
XL Axiata claims to be ready to implement eSIM technology in Indonesia. XL Corporate Communication Group Head Axiata Tri Wahyuningsih said it was ready to run the technology.
"Technically we are ready. We just have to wait for the preparation of regulation, if we run it we are ready to go," Tri said at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, South Jakarta, Friday (9/28).
According to Tri, XL is just waiting for regulations from policy makers related to eSIM technology. XL is confident that technically it can run eSIM if there is regulation.
"We only have to wait for the preparations for the regulation, if it is carried out, we are ready to go. If we don't, for example, we don't. It is impossible to go without regulations," Tri said.
Tri said that his party had already tested the implementation of eSIM from the beginning of the year. Tri also said that he had communicated with various cellphone manufacturers.
"The trial involved vendor partners. Technically yes from the beginning of the year. We have directly tested the technology in advance," Tri said.
Furthermore, related to the commercial side of eSIM is more towards Business to Business (B2B) between mobile manufacturers and operators. There will be talk towards a larger bundling regarding the commercial side.
eSIM allows users to easily change operators without having to use a physical SIM card or store.
